About Kailani Kula

Hi! My name is Anela Kailani and I am from the beautiful island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. I started shelling as a little girl, spending hours on the shoreline until as I grew older my shelling journey brought me to diving in the waters out deep. This connection to the ocean has led me to work in reef restoration as I grew up and watched the vibrant reefs that housed these stunning creatures suffer. The vast ecosystems that I grew up admiring destroyed by climate change, pollution, and ignorance. I created Kailani Kula out of this lifelong passion for the sea and love of beautiful gold jewelry. I hope that by seeing the beauty of the shells I use, you seek to help protect the habitat of these creatures in any way you can.

Every shell I use is ethically hand collected by me. I only collect what the ocean offers—never using nets, only using my breath hold when diving, never taking anything alive, always picking up any trash, and never digging for more than the ocean blesses me with. I believe that what is meant to find me will, and that our role as ocean lovers is to respect and preserve it's beauty.

Kailani Kula is my way of sharing that love and passion, transforming ocean treasures into timeless pieces you never have to take off. Each design is inspired by the shell itself, shaped by the stories of the tides and the years it spent in the sea before reaching my hands. Every piece is crafted with patience, intention, and love, and I truly hope you can feel that energy when you wear it.

Mahalo for letting me share this love with you,
Anela
